PRICHARD, W.Va. (AP) -- Sogefi Group plans to expand its auto parts plant in Wayne County and create 250 new jobs.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin announced the expansion Tuesday. Tomblin met with Sogefi Group CEO Guglielmo Fiocchi in France during a 13-day investment trip to Europe in October.

The governor says in a news release that the expansion project is scheduled to begin in January.

The Prichard plant produces fuel pumps, fuel filters and other parts for automobile engines. It opened in 2004 and Sogefi added 45 jobs in 2012.

Fiocchi says in the release that the company considers its partnership with state and local officials as important factors in its success in West Virginia.
