TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Mitsubishi Motors Corp. said Friday it is recalling around 74,000 Colt compact cars to fix a problem causing their headlights to fail due to a bad connection.

Subject to the recall are those vehicles produced between October 2002 and February 2004, Mitsubishi said in a report filed with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

Although the Japanese automaker had recalled the same model in April 2005, it decided to recall it again as similar problems have subsequently occurred repeatedly.

Separately, Mitsubishi also began recalling around 22,000 RVR sport utility vehicles -- both Galant Fortis sport sedans and Galant Fortis Sportback hatchbacks -- produced between December 2009 and September 2012 to fix a problem that could cause their engines to stall, it said.
