Apex, N.C. (Manufacturing.net) — ATI Industrial Automation today has announced that it will break ground on a new manufacturing expansion on Friday, October 18. The company says demand for its end-effector products has led to the expansion, which will more than double its robotics tool manufacturing operations to 129,000 square feet. This investment will add more than 200 job in the future. Construction is to begin immediately, with the second phase of the expansion coming into effect in three to five years.
Established in 1989, ATI has sought to produce high-quality robotic productivity tools. The employee-owned firm has since grown from a handful of employees to more than 200, with manufacturing in Apex, N.C., and offices in Michigan, China and Brazil. ATI products are implemented in renowned corporations and organizations, including NASA, Ford, Honda and Johns Hopkins University.
ATI CEO Robert Little said in a statement: “Diversity in our customer base, coupled with our focus on innovation and customer service, has allowed us to succeed in a sluggish global economy despite lower-cost competition from overseas. Over forty percent of our sales are exported to world markets and we expect that percentage to increase. We’ve created 50 new jobs since our 2011 expansion and this new expansion will create an additional 200 jobs.”
