Rockwell Collins Ortberg Takes On CEO Position

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) -- Kelly Ortberg has taken over at Rockwell Collins and was given a seat on the board Thursday.

The aviation and military electronics maker announced last month that Ortberg, who will hold is previous position as company president, would succeed Clay Jones. The 64-year-old Jones has spent nearly 34 years at Rockwell Collins. He will continue as non-executive chairman.

Rockwell Collins Inc. said Thursday that the 53-year-old Ortberg will serve on its executive committee.

Shares of the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, company added $1.79, or 2.5 percent, to $72.96 in midday trading. The stock touched $73 earlier in the day, its highest point since December 2007.
