State officials have announced that a Chinese chemical manufacturing company plans to open its headquarters in southeastern Georgia.

SPRINGFIELD, Ga. (AP) -- State officials have announced that a Chinese chemical manufacturing company plans to open its headquarters in southeastern Georgia.

Gov. Nathan Deal said Thursday that Hubei Xingfa Chemicals Group plans to open a facility in Effingham County and create 50 jobs.

Officials say the company was founded in 1984 and is based in China's Hubei Province.

The company expects to develop its plant on 83 acres and will establish a production line to produce phosphates. Officials say the company will export products to North American markets through the port of Savannah.

The company expects to begin hiring in 2014.
