BAE Systems Says CEO Of U.S. Unit Will Retire

Defense contractor BAE Systems PLC said Tuesday that the CEO and president of its U.S. subsidiary will retire next year. Linda Hudson, who has led the U.S. unit since 2009, will remain at her post through the first quarter of 2014.

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Defense contractor BAE Systems PLC said Tuesday that the CEO and president of its U.S. subsidiary will retire next year.

Linda Hudson, who has led the U.S. unit since 2009, will remain at her post through the first quarter of 2014.

Hudson, 62, will remain on the U.S. subsidiary's board as an outside director through April 2015. But she will also step down from her positions as executive director of the parent company's board and as a member of its executive committee.

BAE Systems PLC is based in London. The U.S. subsidiary, known as BAE Systems Inc., is headquartered in Arlington, Va. The company does everything from designing missile launchers to providing cybersecurity systems.

Hudson has worked at BAE Systems Inc. since 2007. Before that, she was a vice president at General Dynamics Corp.
