CONWAY, S.C. (AP) -- A jury has been seated to hear one of three lawsuits alleging groundwater pollution by an electronics manufacturer in Myrtle Beach.
The suit alleges that groundwater contaminated with a chemical known as TCE damaged property values in a 10-block area near the company's former plant.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (https://bit.ly/15dkxmX ) that a developer contends the problem caused a bank to withdraw a construction loan for a planned condominium project.
AVX denies the allegations and is expected to argue that the real estate collapse caused the problem, not polluted groundwater.
AVX settled another lawsuit in 2011.
A class action lawsuit is pending. No trial date has been set for that.
