NEW YORK (AP) -- Snowmobile and ATV maker Polaris Industries Inc. is recalling about 4,500 of its 2011 Polaris Ranger RZR XP 900 recreational off-highway vehicles due to a potential burn hazard.
The company said Wednesday that the firewall in back of the driver and passenger seats can overheat and melt.
There has been one report of an incident in which a consumer suffered burn injuries to a finger.
The 2011 model Polaris Ranger RZR XP 900 vehicles are white or red and have a "RZR XP" decal on the right and left rear side panels. The right and left of the hood have "Dual Overhead Cam" decals. There are also "900 EFI" decals on the front right and left of the vehicle.
The vehicles were sold across the U.S. from May 2012 through February for between $16,000 and $16,600.
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the vehicles and to contact Polaris to schedule free repairs. Polaris said known customers are being contacted directly.
