CareFusion To Pay $41M To Settle Investigation

CareFusion Corp. said Thursday it will pay about $41 million to resolve a government investigation into marketing practices for its antiseptic ChloraPrep. The investigation also covered CareFusion's relationships with health care professionals. The company said it agreed to the settlement in principle and is also entering into a non-prosecution agreement.

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- CareFusion Corp. said Thursday it will pay about $41 million to resolve a government investigation into marketing practices for its antiseptic ChloraPrep.

The investigation also covered CareFusion's relationships with health care professionals. The company said it agreed to the settlement in principle and is also entering into a non-prosecution agreement. CareFusion said it will continue to cooperate with the government.

CareFusion says it will set aside the money and take a one-time charge in its fiscal third quarter.

Shares of CareFusion rose 20 cents to $34.46 on Thursday. The stock was unchanged in aftermarket trading.
