Louisiana Lands Chemical Storage, Distribution Facility

Logistics service provider Katoen Natie plans to build a $150 million plastics storage and distribution facility in Baton Rouge that will support the area's chemical plants. The indoor storage and distribution complex is expected to create 210 new jobs.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Logistics service provider Katoen Natie plans to build a $150 million plastics storage and distribution facility in Baton Rouge that will support the area's chemical plants.

The company's president of petrochemicals in North America, Frank Vingerhoets, joined Gov. Bobby Jindal on Wednesday to announce the facility.

The indoor storage and distribution complex is expected to create 210 new jobs. Jindal says the facility will start hiring this summer and construction will be complete by 2018.

Katoen Natie's complex will include polymer warehousing and packaging facilities that will supply both domestic and international customers, from a 127-acre site in north Baton Rouge. Vingerhoets says the site will have two million square feet of warehouses.

The company, whose U.S. operations are based in Houston, will receive industrial and quality jobs tax breaks.
