NJ Officials Worried About Losing Subaru HQ

Officials say they're trying to keep Subaru of America from moving its headquarters from the New Jersey suburb of Cherry Hill. The company says its building on Route 70 does not have enough space for the 500 employees it would like to consolidate under one roof.

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (AP) -- Officials say they're trying to keep Subaru of America from moving its headquarters from the New Jersey suburb of Cherry Hill.

The company says its building on Route 70 does not have enough space for the 500 employees it would like to consolidate under one roof.

The employees are spread out in two separate buildings about two miles apart in Cherry Hill. Company spokesman Michael McHale says Subaru is looking into ways to bring them together under one roof.

He declined to talk about tax incentives, but said the main reason for any move would be the company's operations.

He also says the company wants to keep its U.S. headquarters in the area. It's been in Cherry Hill since 1986.
