EVERGREEN, Ala. (AP) -- Federal labor officials have cited a south Alabama manufacturing plant for 15 safety violations.

Department of labor spokesman Michael D'Aquino says Tenax Manufacturing Alabama LLC has been cited for safety violations after an August 2012 inspection of its plant in Evergreen. The company manufactures construction netting and fencing products.

Officials have proposed a fine of nearly $55,500 for the plant failing to have an emergency action plan, handrails on staircases, allowing employees to use forklifts without wearing seatbelts and additional infractions.

The company has 15 days to comply or contest the findings before the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.

A call to Tenax Manufacturing Alabama was not answered Monday.

Evergreen is about 100 miles northeast of Mobile.
