NAM: Policymakers Must Address True Fiscal Problems

The President and Congress must get a grip on entitlement and wasteful spending and establish a path forward that will allow us to enact pro-growth policies to keep us the most competitive country in the world, the National Association of Manufacturers said.

WASHINGTON -- National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) President and CEO Jay Timmons issued this statement after Congress passed legislation to address the fiscal cliff:

“Our nation may have averted the fiscal cliff, but there is still much work to be done to address the country’s true fiscal problems. While the legislation passed by Congress contains some positive tax provisions for manufacturers, entitlement and wasteful government spending are not touched. Until these issues are dealt with, our nation will continue to have the same fiscal challenges.

Manufacturers want and need a pro-growth strategy to maintain our economic leadership globally. The President and Congress must get a grip on entitlement and wasteful spending and establish a path forward that will allow us to enact pro-growth policies to keep us the most competitive country in the world.”
