Child Care Providers Face New Crib Requirements

New Hampshire health officials say all child care programs and providers must now be in compliance with more stringent federal requirements for cribs. The new standards require stronger hardware and more rigorous testing of a crib's durability.

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- New Hampshire health officials say all child care programs and providers must now be in compliance with more stringent federal requirements for cribs.

The new standards require stronger hardware and more rigorous testing of a crib's durability.

Health officials say cribs manufactured before June 28, 2011, likely are not in compliance with the standards.

The new Consumer Product Safety Commission requirements go into effect Friday.

Programs are prohibited from reselling or donating non-compliant cribs.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends taking apart non-compliant cribs before disposing of them.

The Child Care Licensing Unit of the state Department of Health and Human Services invites providers' and consumers' questions.
