NEWPORT, Vt. (AP) -- A Vermont company that manufactures military helmets is going to be doubling its workforce by the end of the year.

The company Revision Military has begun work at its Newport factory on a $21.6 million contract to make more than 90,000 helmets for the U.S. military.

The contract will require the company to double its workforce from 40 to 80 people.

The facility produces Advanced Combat Helmets, the lightweight helmets worn by most U.S. service members as well as soldiers from some other countries.

Gov. Peter Shumlin and U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy are in Newport on Tuesday to mark the event.

Earlier this year, Revision bought the Newport facility from MSA North America's combat helmet division.
