COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) -- Engine maker Cummins Inc. says it will lay off at least 150 workers from its southern Indiana factories as it carries out its plan to cut up to 1,500 jobs worldwide by year's end.

Cummins spokesman Jon Mills says the layoffs will affect workers at the company's Fuel Systems Plant in Columbus, Columbus MidRange Engine Plant or the Seymour Engine plant.

Mills tells The Republic of Columbus (https://bit.ly/RDFlva ) that about 125 employees will also be transferred to the Columbus MidRange Engine Plant from the other two factories.

Mills says the Columbus-based company is still deciding whether to make more job cuts at the Indiana facilities.

The company had 46,200 employees worldwide in early September, including some 7,700 workers in Indiana. Cummins is making the job cuts after sales declines.
