SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Medical device maker CareFusion Corp. said Monday it agreed to buy Intermed Equipamento Medico Hospitalar, a Brazilian respiratory technology company.

CareFusion said Intermed designs, makes and sells ventilators and respiratory care devices used in hospitals in Brazil and Latin America. CareFusion did not disclose terms of the deal, which it expects to close by the end of 2012. Noting Brazil's large population and growing health care sector, CareFusion said the purchase of Intermed will add about $25 million to its annual revenue.

CareFusion said the deal will slightly reduce its net income in the current fiscal year.

Shares of CareFusion lost 11 cents to $28.50 in morning trading.
