Preparing Utah's Industry For Manufacturing In The 21st Century

As a cornerstone of Utah’s economy, the manufacturing industry facilitates and strengthens job creation and growth among every industry sector. The Excellence in Manufacturing Leadership Summit will bring together manufacturing businesses, industry, education and government representatives to share ideas and best practices.

Salt Lake Community College President Cynthia Bioteau invites manufacturing professionals and industry educators to SLCC’s first Annual Manufacturing Leadership Summit about Utah’s manufacturing industry. The Summit will be held on September 27, from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Free Enterprise Center Auditorium, Larry H. Miller Campus 9750 South 300 West, in Sandy, UT.

Jennifer McNelly, President of the Manufacturing Institute will provide the keynote address. Her presentation will outline opportunities for the next generation of manufacturing—including cultivating a thriving workforce and staying competitive in the 21st century.

As a cornerstone of Utah’s economy, the manufacturing industry facilitates and strengthens job creation and growth among every industry sector. The Excellence in Manufacturing Leadership Summit will bring together manufacturing businesses, industry, education and government representatives to share ideas and best practices for: building a continuous talent pipeline, growing and sustaining a strong manufacturing base through innovation, and identifying critical partnerships to support Utah’s manufacturers.

The Governors Office of Economic Development will join McNelly to highlight the important function of manufacturing to Utah’s economy. Additional sessions will discuss public and private partnerships that can contribute to the next generation of workforce excellence, and strategies to grow and sustain a strong manufacturing base through innovative practice.
