Raytheon Gets $636M Contract For Missile 'Killers'

The company signed the deal with Boeing to keep providing "exoatmospheric kill vehicles," which are meant to destroy missiles by colliding with them.

Defense contractor Raytheon Co. said Monday that it received a $636 million U.S. missile defense system contract.

The Waltham, Mass., company signed the deal to keep providing "exoatmospheric kill vehicles," which are meant to destroy missiles by colliding with them, for Boeing Co. Boeing is the main contractor for the system meant to defend the U.S. against ballistic missile attacks.

The contract runs through November 2018.

Raytheon shares added 20 cents to $56.08 in morning trading.
