Proposed Vt. Bio-Tech Plant Could Create 500 Jobs

AnC Bio, a South Korean company that manufactures artificial organs, will spend build a $50 million plant that could also lease out clean rooms to business from around the world.

NEWPORT, Vt. (AP) — The Vermont developer working with a South Korean bio-technology company to bring 250 jobs to the Newport area says another 250 jobs could come to the area by leasing clean rooms to businesses from around the world.

Developer Bill Stenger told members of the Newport City Renaissance Corp. Wednesday he and his partners are working with economists and attorneys to prepare for permitting and construction.

The Caledonian Record (http://bit.ly/OHOjtF) reports part of the new AnC Bio Vermont expansion will include an affordable housing complex.

AnC Bio is a South Korean company that develops and manufactures artificial organs. It's planning to build a $50 million plant and create about 250 jobs.

The clean-room jobs would be in addition to the direct AnC Bio jobs.
