Nucor's Blytheville Plant To Get $115M Expansion

Nucor announced that it is joining with Yamato Kogyo Co. to expand production into wider, stronger and lighter sheet piling sections.

BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Nucor Corp. is entering into a joint venture to begin a $115 million expansion of its steel mill at Blytheville.

Nucor announced Tuesday that it is joining with Yamato Kogyo Co. to expand production. The work should be complete early next year.

The Nucor-Yamato Steel Co. project will expand the plant's hot rolled sheet piling production area. The companies didn't address any jobs that will be added.

The new production area will add a number of new sheet piling sections and the company will be able to turn out sheet widths that are 22 percent wider than those now in production. The company says the new sheet pilings will be lighter and stronger and will be used in marine, bridge and highway construction.
