Household Products Maker Plans More Ind. Jobs

KIK Custom Products is starting up three new production lines at one of its Elkhart facilities, and could add nearly 70 workers.

ELKHART, Ind. (AP) — A Canadian company that makes personal care and household products says it is increasing production at a northern Indiana factory and will be adding nearly 70 workers in the coming years.

KIK Custom Products officials say the company is starting up three new production lines at one of its Elkhart facilities and has already hired 20 new workers.

Company manager Richard Daviduke told the Elkhart City Council on Monday that it won't be expanding the factory for the new product lines involving liquids, creams and lotions. The Elkhart Truth reports (https://bit.ly/NLHlVi ) that council members gave initial approval for about $7 million in property tax abatements for the company.

The company now has about 690 workers in Elkhart, along with some 150 temporary seasonal workers.
