ATF Investigating Missing Guns From PARA-USA Plant

The company says a recent inventory indicated 189 guns went missing between May of 2009 and this month.

PINEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A federal agency is investigating a report of weapons missing from a gun manufacturer in Mecklenburg County.

WCNC-TV reported (https://bit.ly/LvFjoz ) that the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is investigating a report that nearly 200 guns are missing from PARA-USA in Pineville.

The company says a recent inventory indicated 189 guns were missing. The company says the guns disappeared between May of 2009 and this month. The company says it appears to be paperwork mistakes.

The company is best known for making a replica of the .45 caliber sidearm worn by U.S. troops in World War II.

Earl Woodham with ATF says it's not unusual for a company to report missing weapons.
