Vehicle Seat Manufacturer To Locate In Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A Korean company that supplies seats for Kia and Hyundai vehicles has announced it will build a $50 million plant in Montgomery.

Television station WSFA (http://bit.ly/xhVkw1 ) reported that seat supplier DAS would build its plant at the Montgomery Industrial Park. Company officials said they will begin production in May, at first working out of an abandoned facility in Hope Hull.

Company officials said Thursday afternoon they expect to eventually employ about 240 people with salaries ranging from $10.50 to $20 an hour.

The plant will make seats for the Kia Santa Fe and the Kia Optima and for the Hyundai Santa Fe, all built at the Kia plant in West Point, Ga.
