ATLANTA (AP) — A Texas-based company that supplies equipment to the gas and oil drilling industry is planning a new factory in eastern Georgia that could employ about 60 workers.
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal announced Wednesday that PyraMax Ceramics LLC will invest $140 million in a new plant near Wrens, about 30 miles southwest of Augusta.
The company manufactures ceramic beads that are injected into the ground by companies drilling for oil and natural gas. Company President Don Anschutz said the company located its new facility in Georgia's Jefferson County because it can mine the raw materials there needed to create its product.
The company is getting assistance from the state, including workforce training. Deal said the company will benefit from a repeal of the sales tax on energy used by manufacturers.
