New combi valves for enhanced comfort and greater energy efficiency

Siemens' Building Technologies Division extends its proven Acvatix range by a number of new combi valves. This means that all applications from radiators to complex HVAC systems can now be covered. Matching combinations of valves and actuators are available for any control requirement.

The extended portfolio of Acvatix combi valves from Siemens' Building Technologies Division comprises valves with flow rates from 30 l/h to 8.6 m3/h, nominal sizes from DN 10 to DN 50, and pressure classes from PN 10 to PN 25. Hence, the range of Acvatix combi valves is capable of covering all types of applications from radiators to complex HVAC systems. Together with Acvatix actuators, Building Technologies is now able to offer matching combinations of valves and actuators for any type of control requirement – thoroughly tested in Siemens' own HVAC laboratory. The valves are available as internally threaded valves (the threads conforming to ISO 7-1) and as externally threaded valves conforming to ISO 228-1. An easy-to-operate presetting scale with security nut facilitates commissioning and the integrated differential pressure controller simplifies hydraulic balancing.

The new Acvatix combi valves simplify commissioning and reduce effort and time when it comes to planning and plant layout. They are easy to commission and their correct operation can be checked. Also, they are perfectly suited for straightforward plant extensions.

The combi valves combine in one valve body a control valve for controlling the temperature, a differential pressure controller for shielding against pressure fluctuations in the hydraulic network, a presetting scale for setting the required maximum volumetric flow, and pressure measuring points for the differential pressure measurement. They make a significant contribution to energy efficiency and, at the same time, offer cost benefits by preventing oversupply of heat to heat exchangers and by ensuring optimum usage of heat and cooling generation. Acvatix combi valves improve the control accuracy of systems under all operating conditions. Thanks to precise adjustment of the volumetric flow, the valves contribute to more comfort in the relevant rooms and zones.

In connection with Acvatix actuators, the combi valves are perfectly suited for use in basic and complex HVAC systems, for example for the water-side control of terminal units in closed circuits and for heating or cooling zones in closed circuits of HVAC plants.

The new Acvatix combi valves are part of Siemens' Environmental Portfolio. In fiscal 2010, revenue from the Portfolio totaled about €28 billion, making Siemens the world's largest supplier of ecofriendly technologies. In the same period, our products and solutions enabled customers to reduce their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 270 million tons, an amount equal to the total annual CO2 emissions of the megacities Hong Kong, London, New York, Tokyo, Delhi, and Singapore.
