Maker of laboratory equipment has announced plans to move more than 100 jobs out of New Hampshire.

NEWINGTON, N.H. (AP) -- A maker of laboratory equipment has announced plans to move more than 100 jobs out of New Hampshire.

Thermo Fisher Scientific (http://bit.ly/p2nmOP) announced Wednesday that it will transfer operations at its Newington facility to Asheville, N.C., a move that will eliminate 109 local manufacturing jobs.

In a separate move, the company also told 13 employees at Portsmouth site that their positions are being transferred to a plant in Marietta, Ohio.

A spokesman for the Waltham, Mass.-based company tells The Portsmouth Herald that the first job transfers will occur in November. The company will work with affected employees to find them jobs at other Thermo Fisher facilities. Seventy jobs are staying in Newington.

The company has revenue of nearly $11 billion during the last fiscal year.
