Head Injury Kills Man At NE Ind. Poultry Plant

Company manager Len Neeb says the 25-year-old man was fatally injured by machinery used to unload crates of chickens.

ORLAND, Ind. (AP) -- Authorities say a maintenance worker was killed in an accident at a chicken-processing plant in northeastern Indiana.

The Steuben (stoo-BEN') County coroner says 25-year-old Samuel Worrell of Fremont died from head injuries Thursday at Miller Poultry near the town of Orland.

Company manager Len Neeb tells The Journal Gazette of Fort Wayne (http://bit.ly/qYgHJr) that Worrell was fatally injured by machinery used to unload crates of chickens. He says Worrell and two other workers had finished servicing the machinery and were testing it when the accident happened.

Production at the 350-worker plant about 40 miles north of Fort Wayne was stopped after Worrell was injured and is resuming Friday.
