Radiology Group Selects GE Centricity OneView

WASHINGTON, DC – June 3, 2011 – Radiology & Imaging Specialists of Lakeland needed a solution that could create a single radiologist workflow to improve productivity across multiple hospitals. The Florida-based group knew where to turn and, at this week’s Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine meeting in Washington, D.C., announced their decision to invest in Centricity* OneView from GE Healthcare.

“Centricity OneView is absolutely critical for us if we are to grow our business and deliver the best care possible to our patients,” said David Marichal, Chief Technology Officer at the group. “We expect to be able to create one workflow for our radiologists to improve productivity while enabling us to balance the workload across all our radiologists, making better use of our scarce sub-specialty radiologists. As opposed to the five PACS systems we use today, a single system will streamline the management and reading of our own exams as well as those sent to us from outside facilities. This will improve service and turnaround time for patients.”

Specifically, OneView can help deliver better, more responsive care to patients by revealing the benefits of a single patient jacket. This gives the radiologist access to more information, including a patient’s relevant historic images and clinical data, which allows radiologists to perform a final read, removing the cost of preparation and redundant studies.

For providers. OneView reduces the worklist and technical compatibility challenges faced by utilizing multiple disparate RIS and PACS. OneView will move clinicians to a uniform, balanced workflow, slicing through silos, in a new environment that fosters constant collaboration between radiologists and sub-specialists.

“Whether you’re a hospital trying to get better control of your radiology business and control costs, an outpatient imaging center looking to grow your business or a hospital network looking to share imaging data across facilities, OneView can dramatically impact your ability to deliver better patient care,” said Don Woodlock, Vice President and General Manager of GE Healthcare IT. “The Radiology & Imaging Specialists of Lakeland investment in OneView is expected to immediately pay dividends for its community while positioning the facility for additional growth.”

Centricity OneView is comprised of two primary components. OneView Global Reading manages clinical data and image sharing between multiple RIS and PACS in the background allowing radiologists to utilize existing workflow, tools and systems. OneView Single Patient Jacket improves quality by providing access to a more comprehensive patient image set including local and outside images.
