GE Furthers Investment in RIS with Latest Release

WASHINGTON, DC – June 1, 2011 – At today’s meeting of the Centricity Radiology Information System Society (CRISS) in Washington, DC, GE announced its plans to release a significant update to-- and investment in—its Centricity* RIS-IC platform. Centricity RIS-IC 10.7, to be rolled out in three stages this year, adds a series of improvements that can help customers better manage their radiology operations and enhance clinical workflow.

GE Healthcare has built on the RIS-IC platform and is delivering new, improved functionality to drive radiology productivity and compliance. With improvements in core RIS functionality, support of ICD-10 coding, computer automated coding interface and a fresh technology stack, providers can partner with a leading healthcare IT company that’s committed to radiology workflow improvement and information access.

“GE’s commitment to this space is remarkable,” said Owen Byrnes, IS Manager-Imaging at BayCare Health System (Clearwater, Fla.) and immediate past-chair of CRISS. “Just seeing the company’s involvement, support of our SIIM-affiliated user group and continued investment in the Centricity RIS-IC product is admirable. Today’s announcement only serves to strengthen that.”

“Many of the world's finest healthcare institutions use Centricity RIS-IC,” said Don Woodlock, Vice President and General Manager of GE Healthcare IT. “These significantly improved capabilities will allow our customers to take productivity and quality to the next level.”

The first stage of 10.7 is available immediately. Second and third stages will be released later this year.
