Vacutech Says It's Delivering On Wyoming Jobs

Leaders at the vacuum systems company Vacutech say they're delivering on a promise to create jobs in Sheridan, Wyo.

SHERIDAN, Wyo. (AP) -- Leaders at the vacuum systems company Vacutech say they're delivering on a promise to create jobs in Sheridan, Wyo.

Colorado-based Vacutech said in October that the company would relocate to Sheridan, create jobs and work with Sheridan College to train employees.

In a recent interview, co-owner John Tucker told The Sheridan Press that Vacutech has hired at least eight Sheridan College students. He said he's been "very pleased" with their knowledge so far.

"All these kids can say they have a job here in town, and they are just thrilled about that," Tucker said. "Others have ranches in the area that they want to keep working on, and this will allow them to do that, too."

The eight students will primarily be doing fabrication work, welding and working with the company's large laser-cutting machines, Tucker said. Two more Sheridan College alumni may join Vacutech's computer-aided design department, he said.

Sheridan College student Joey Sidletsky, 21, teaches a night class in the school's machining department but plans to work with Vacutech full-time. He said he and his wife have a child on the way.

"If it weren't for Vacutech, I would have been able to stay in Sheridan and have a machining job, but it wouldn't have allowed me to spend the time I'd like to with my family," Sidletsky said. "Most machining jobs are with the mines or something. You're on call 24 hours, whenever they need you. That's not really what I wanted."

Vacutech designs, manufactures and installs industrial and commercial vacuum systems.
