PRAGUE (AP) -- Firefighters have evacuated hundreds of people from their homes in eastern Czech Republic because of the risk of toxic fumes from a huge fire at a plastics factory.
Spokesman Ivo Mitacek says the fire began in the early hours of Friday in a four-story, 200 meter (yard) -long building in the town of Chropyne, and spread to other plant buildings.
He said Friday more than 100 firefighters are at the scene but it could take days to get the fire fueled by strong winds fully under control. One firefighter has been injured.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
