General Dynamics Md. Site Announces Layoffs

General Dynamics Robotic Systems in Westminster said it will lay off 132 workers in 60 days unless a program they are working on is funded again by the U.S. Army.

WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- General Dynamics Robotic Systems in Westminster said it will lay off 132 workers in 60 days unless a program they are working on is funded again by the U.S. Army.

Peter Keating, a spokesman for General Dynamics Corp., said Wednesday the program, the Autonomous Navigation System, is out of funding, and the company will pay workers for the next 60 days. Keating said if the program is not funded by then, the workers will be laid off.

The Westminster facility has 350 workers. It cut 80 employees and 10 contract laborers in May, and laid off another 31 workers in July.
