Sharp Recalls LCD TV

Consumer Product Safety Commission and Sharp Electronics have initiated a voluntary recall of 32-inch LCD televisions because of a risk of injury to consumers.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Sharp Electronics Corp. have initiated a voluntary recall of 32-inch LCD televisions because of a risk of injury to consumers.

The model's neck support can break, which can make the TV tip over and hurt the consumer, according to a news release Tuesday.

No injuries have been reported. Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled products immediately.

There are 9,000 units affected, with the model number LC-32SB28UT. The model number, serial number and manufacture dates of March 2010 through April 2010 are on the back of the unit. Serial numbers included in the recall are: 0028 32837 through 0028 35190; 0048 57501 through 0048 59020; 0048 61401 through 0048 64020; and 0048 72001 through 0048 78800.

The products were sold nationwide from March through August for about $550.

Customers are encouraged to contact Sharp for a free replacement stand neck support at (800) 291-4289 or www.sharpusa.com.
