Kentucky's capital city is a new home for a company getting strong reviews as being environmentally friendly.

MVR makes plastic resin for sale to consumer goods manufacturers using plastic waste as raw material. The company had a dedication ceremony Wednesday for a manufacturing plant in Frankfort. The company has said it plans to invest more than $9.2 million in the new operation and hire 360 workers within two years.

For every 50 million pounds of resin processed by the company, 275,000 barrels of oil are saved when compared to new resins. Franklin County Judge-Executive Ted Collins says MVR is one of the country's largest recyclers of plastic waste. Collins says the company will help the county become "greener" by reducing the carbon footprint.
