Nissan Suspends Output In Japan

Automaker says it will suspend production at four assembly plants in Japan due to a delay in getting supplies of engine parts from Hitachi Ltd.

TOKYO (AP) -- Nissan Motor Co. says it will suspend production at four assembly plants in Japan due to a delay in getting supplies of engine parts from Hitachi Ltd.

Nissan spokesman Koji Okuda said the suspension will begin Wednesday and last three days. The move will affect around 15,000 vehicles.

Japan's No.3 automaker Monday said production will return to normal next week.

Hitachi said its subcontractor could not deliver enough parts to keep up with demand.
