Kimberly-Clark To Expand Arkansas Plant

Consumer products maker says it will spend $25 million on an expansion of its Conway plant that will result in addition of more than 40 jobs at the facility.

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) -- The Kimberly-Clark Corp. says it will spend $25 million on an expansion of its Conway plant that will result in addition of more than 40 jobs at the facility.

The plant, which makes feminine-hygiene products, is already one of the largest employers in Faulkner County, with about 500 workers. Brad Lacy, director of economic development for the Conway Development Corp., said Kimberly-Clark is the second-largest manufacturing operation in the county, after school-furniture maker Virco Corp.

Jamie Gates, Conway Development Corp.'s vice president for government affairs, said the expansion will add manufacturing capacity for products not now being produced in the U.S., and for modernization of technology and other improvements on existing production lines.
