Boeing Selects S. Carolina Site To Make 787 Interiors

Planemaker said it will make interior parts for its new 787 airliner in North Charleston, S.C., at a site located about 10 miles away from its new 787 assembly operation.

CHICAGO (AP) -- Boeing Co. said on Thursday that it will make the interior for its new 787 airliner in North Charleston, S.C.

Boeing said it will buy land from Stone Mountain Industrial Park Inc. for the facility, which will be about 10 miles away from a 787 assembly operation in North Charleston. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

Construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter.

The new facility will make parts including stowage bins, closets, partitions, and crew rest areas. Boeing has said it expects to deliver the first 787 by the end of this year.

Boeing shares added 3 cents to $64.78 in midday trading.
