Fire Halts Production At Viasystems Factory In China

Circuit board maker said a fire in an electrical distribution hub in a factory in Zhongshan, China, on Sunday caused production to stop for an undetermined period.

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Circuit board maker Viasystems Group Inc. said Monday a fire in one of its factories has temporarily halted production there.

The company said a fire in an electrical distribution hub in a factory in Zhongshan, China, on Sunday caused production to stop for an undetermined period.

There were no injuries and no production equipment was damaged.

The plant in Zhongshan is one of seven Viasystems operates in China.

Viasystems is working with officials to investigate the fire and re-establish power.

The company, based in St. Louis, said it has no estimate for the potential costs of the incident but believes its insurance will cover the damage.

Shares rose 25 cents to $17.38 during afternoon trading.
