KINGSPORT, Tenn. (AP) -- Eastman Chemical Co. has earned energy efficiency awards again from the American Chemistry Council.
The global company based in Kingsport makes chemicals, fibers and plastics used in everyday products.
CEO Jim Rogers said in a statement that receiving the awards for a 17th straight year shows Eastman Chemical's continued commitment to being a sustainable company, to improving energy efficiency and to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Recognized projects for 2009 combined saved enough energy to power 14,000 homes and eliminated greenhouse gas emissions comparable to more than 8,000 cars.
