W. Va. Aluminum Plant To Reopen

Aluminum Services Inc. plans to reopen former Precision Coil’s aluminum fabricating plant in Clarksburg and hopes to hire 55 workers and start production by December.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- An investment group plans to reopen a former aluminum fabricating plant in Clarksburg.

The West Virginia Economic Development Authority on Thursday approved two loans totaling nearly $5.5 million for the purchase of the former Precision Coil plant's facility, equipment and property.

Don Robinson, managing partner of a North Carolina advisement firm, says Morgantown-based Aluminum Services Inc. hopes to hire 55 workers and start production by December.

Harrison County Commissioner Ron Watson says about 100 jobs were lost when the plant closed last year.
