Timken Closing Ohio Plant

Bearings and specialty steel maker Timken says it will close an 82-year-old plant in Ohio, costing 57 jobs.

CANTON, Ohio (AP) -- Bearings and specialty steel maker Timken Co. says it will close an 82-year-old plant in Ohio, costing 57 jobs.

Timken has notified hourly workers that within two months it will close the operation in Canton, where the company also is based. The factory has faced the likelihood of a shutdown since 2004.

Many of the affected workers have been on layoff since last fall. Timken says some could be recalled to other jobs.
