McCormick To Get Solar Power System

Spicemaker said power company Constellation Energy will develop solar power system for a McCormick distribution center that will be largest single rooftop solar installation in Maryland.

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Power company Constellation Energy and spicemaker McCormick & Company said Thursday that they will develop a 1.8-megawatt solar photovoltaic power system for a McCormick distribution center in Belcamp, Maryland, that will be the largest single rooftop solar installation in the state.

It will be the second solar installation developed for McCormick by Constellation. The first is a 1-megawatt installation in Hunt Valley, Md.

Construction of the latest project is scheduled to start in late June and should be complete by the end of the year.

Constellation will finance the project and then own and maintain it for 20 years. McCormick will buy the energy that is produced.

Constellation Energy, based in Baltimore, expects McCormick to save an estimated $3.4 million in electricity costs over the term of the agreement.

Constellation shares fell 74 cents to $36.73 in Thursday afternoon trading. McCormick shares slipped a penny to $39.16.
