State officials say Ferrotec, a Japanese manufacturer of components for solar power equipment, plans to open a new factory in Fairview, Ore.

FAIRVIEW, Ore. (AP) -- State officials say a Japanese manufacturer of solar energy components plans to open a new factory in Fairview, Ore.

The Oregonian reports that the Ferrotec plant could employ 15 to 30 people by the middle of this year. State officials made the announcement Wednesday while attending a solar exposition in Tokyo. Ferrotec makes components that are used by other manufacturers to produce solar power equipment.
