Indiana RV Maker To Expand, Add 265 New Jobs

Heartland Recreational Vehicles says it will invest more than $2.6 million to expand manufacturing in Elkhart and plans to hire up to 265 new workers by 2013.

ELKHART, Ind. (AP) -- A northern Indiana recreational vehicle manufacturer is expanding its Elkhart operations and plans to hire up to 265 new workers by 2013.

Heartland Recreational Vehicles LLC announced Monday that it will invest more than $2.6 million to buy and equip a 125,000 square-foot manufacturing complex in Elkhart.

The maker of RVs and travel trailers announced in February that it had bought the remaining trademarks of the towable brands of Fleetwood Enterprises Inc., which filed for bankruptcy protection in 2009.

Heartland says acquiring the former Fleetwood brands will allow it to expand into markets in the western United States. Heartland currently employs more than 900 workers across north-central Indiana.
