TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Toyota Motor Corp. President Akio Toyoda said Wednesday that the automaker will install a brake override system in all newly produced models worldwide to boost the quality of its vehicles.
When a driver steps on both the accelerator and brake pedals, the system will allow the brake function to kick in first.
The move is part of a series of measures to increase safety announced by the automaker amid a string of global recalls in recent months involving problems with brakes and accelerator pedals.
