RV Startup Plans Indiana Plant

Startup company Earthbound RV plans to open factory in central Indiana making recreational vehicles and potentially hire 300 workers in next few years.

MARION, Ind. (AP) -- A startup company plans to open a factory in central Indiana making recreational vehicles and potentially hire 300 workers in the next few years.

Officials of Earthbound RV say they'll hire 60 people this year for the Marion factory and expect to start production of its towable trailers in March.

The Marion City Council on Tuesday approved a $2 million economic development bond that the company will be responsible for repaying. Earthbound has been based in Middlebury, but plans to move its headquarters to Marion.

Company vice president David B. Hoefer says its vehicles will be significantly lighter than similar-sized RVs and be made from composite materials.
