Exxon Mobil Expanding Louisiana Chemical Plant

Company’s chemical plant in Baton Rouge, La., one of the largest facilities in the world that makes isopropyl alcohol, has started work on expanding production.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- The Exxon Mobil chemical plant in Baton Rouge has started work on expanding production of isopropyl alcohol.

The company describes the alcohol facility as the largest of its type in the world.

The solvent is used extensively in personal care products, pharmaceuticals, coatings, cleaning products for electronics and as a component for making agricultural chemicals.
