ALCOA Sheds 90 Jobs In Tennessee

Aluminum manufacturer ALCOA is eliminating 90 jobs at its Alcoa, Tenn., operations in the Smoky Mountains foothills.

ALCOA, Tenn. (AP) -- Aluminum manufacturer ALCOA is eliminating 90 jobs at its operations in the Smoky Mountains foothills.

The Daily Times reported workers were told Monday the cuts affect the can sheet operations in the Rigid Packaging Division.

The latest layoffs come a year after ALCOA eliminated 450 jobs and stopped production on two pot lines, also in the city of Alcoa.

In a statement, ALCOA also said it was cutting 145 jobs at its plant in Evansville, Ind.
