Kolbe & Kolbe Millwork Cuts 334 Jobs

Door and window maker says layoffs are a result of the continuing decline in the residential and commercial construction industry.

WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) -- Door and window maker Kolbe & Kolbe Millwork Co. of Wausau has laid off 334 workers

Company president Michael Salsieder says in a news release Tuesday that the layoffs are a result of the continuing decline in the residential and commercial construction industry.

He says Kolbe & Kolbe plans to bring back as many employees as possible this spring, when it's hoped the economy will improve and the usual winter building slowdown will be over.

Wausau Mayor Jim Tipple says Kolbe & Kolbe has been a good corporate citizen and he's confident they'll overcome this setback.
